MISSION: The St. Mark Welcome Committee follows the Biblical command to “not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels.” (Hebrews 13: 2). Hospitality involves people being together in fun, lively and energetic ways. These moments build bonds and build community.
DESCRIPTION: The Welcome Committee extends hospitality to visitors, and parishioners old and new, before and after all Masses. We handle the registration of new parishioners and coordinate the welcome dinners hosted by our pastor. In addition, members also contact new parishioners with a welcoming phone call inviting them to meet with a member(s) for coffee and conversation after Mass.
TRAITS/TALENTS NEEDED: People who are welcoming, outgoing, friendly and willing to look into another person’s eyes and smile.
TIME COMMITMENT: Members volunteer to staff the Welcome Desk for a specific Mass each month, arriving 15 minutes before Mass starts and remaining 20 minutes afterward. Table host responsibilities at the Welcome Dinner are a 3-4 hour commitment every quarter. The welcoming phone call and conversation is about 2-3 hours per month.
